Understanding the redemption process

Understanding the redemption process

Once customers finalize their purchase on DealChicken.com, they’ll receive an email with a link to a voucher to print and redeem. They can also present the voucher on their mobile device. There are five ways to track voucher redemption.

OPTION 1

Mark as redeemed on mobile device

  1. The customer will pull up their voucher on the phone and present it during checkout.
  2. Ask the customer to scroll to the bottom where it says “Mark as Redeemed”.
  3. The customer or the merchant can touch “Mark as Redeemed” and the voucher will be updated in the Online Merchant Redemption Tool.
  4. If preferred, while in front of the customer, the merchant can write down the voucher number listed on the screen and then put it into the system using one of the following methods. Do not walk away with the phone.
OPTION 2 (PREFERRED METHOD)

Online Merchant Redemption ToolMerchant Redemption Tool

  1. Visit dealchicken.com/redeem on your computer or mobile device browser.
  2. Type in the voucher number located in the upper middle of the printed voucher.
  3. Double check the number, then click the continue button. Confirm the pre-discount amount by tapping “submit”. Finally, tap “redeem”.

This will mark the voucher as redeemed. If a customer were to try to reuse the voucher, the system would warn you that the voucher has already been redeemed.

OPTION 3 (PREFERRED METHOD)

Scan the voucher QR code

  1. Download a free QR code reader app for your smartphone. (Suggestions: QRReader for iPhone or Google Goggles for Android).
  2. Open the QR code reader app, move your smartphone over the QR code on the customer’s voucher. It should take you to dealchicken.com/redeem
  3. The voucher number will be prefilled. Tap “continue” and confirm the pre-discount amount by tapping “submit”. Finally, tap “redeem”.

This will mark the voucher as redeemed. If a customer were to try to reuse the voucher, the system would warn you that the voucher has already been redeemed.

OPTION 4

Pen and paper

The day after your promotion starts, DealChicken will email you a PDF list of voucher numbers, buyer names, and individual purchase option. Keep a master list and cross off names and voucher numbers as customers redeem the offer.

This option will not show the voucher as “used” in the customer’s account. To eliminate multiple (intentional or unintentional) redemption attempts, please ALSO mark them as redeemed online when you have free time (see options #1-3).

OPTION 5

Using Microsoft Excel

By default, the voucher list is provided as a PDF file. However, if you prefer an Excel file, contact your local Area Manager. If your business has a computer with Microsoft Excel, you can use the highlighting function to mark redeemed vouchers.

This option will not show the voucher as “used” in the customer’s account. To eliminate multiple (intentional or unintentional) redemption attempts, please ALSO mark them as redeemed online when you have free time (see options #1-3).
